Michael Heiden began making instruments in the rich music environment of Vancouver, British Columbia in the 1970's.

Apart from playing fiddle, mandolin and guitar in numerous Folk, Bluegrass and Swing bands, he developed a reputation as a skilled repairman concentrating on restoration and setup of quality instruments. This experience combined with a genuine desire to create fine tuned, responsive and player friendly instruments has made Heiden Stringed Instruments distinctive.
